ELI5: how are stem cells made in the first place?
From what i can gather, they're self replicating to a certain extent. but how are they made in the first place? where, when, why, and how, does the first stem cell come to exist? what are they made out of? chemicals? atoms?
all my googling just shows results for how they're harvested for scientific study.
