Thoughts RPE-only training

For the second consecutive year, Ironman Brazil AG was won by an amateur athlete who doesn’t use GPS and trains exclusively by RPE (Rate of Perceived Exertion).

Are there similar examples in the professional ranks? Is this an effective approach to training?

Bonus: the guy is also a strong advocate of intermittent fasting and low carbing but i think its a topic for another post 😂
