Signed Contracts for self-employed contractors and Verbal Amendments.

I have a contract with a self-employed individual to perform work for me. The contract states a lot of rules. One of the rules is being paid once every three days after performing work. After months of this, I want to change it to once a week on Friday. I realized that it's hard to keep up with these rapid payments all the time and want some consistency. I verbally informed this person of the change and that for future work they will get paid on Fridays. They are not contesting that I said this and acknowledge I said this — they said no to this. I said future work they perform will go by this Friday schedule. They performed future work for me, then were mad that I wasn't paying them within 3 days. They believe I legally owe them sooner than Friday. But I did tell them future work would work this way. They are also a self-contractor, so they do not need to accept the shift if they don't want to work under the new terms. Am I getting this wrong, or even morally wrong for changing this? I'm also in PA — I don't know if this changes anything.
