Opinions ??

Every time I try to grow my hair longer than a few months I ended up giving up because it reaches this awkward stage where I feel like it doesn’t look good. Is this common? Wanting to go from my current short hair on the left to something similar on the right. Any tips for how to do this ? Certain hair care that needs done? Any oils or products that someone experienced has used ? Thanks !
