Looking to connect with Data Engineers (Databricks / Snowflake) job hunting in the USA to support each other

Hey everyone,

I am currently on the job hunt in the US for Data Engineering roles, specifically focusing on Databricks ecosystems. As we all know, navigating the current market and interview loops can be tough to handle alone.

I am looking to connect with others who are in the same boat (databricks or snowflake or fabrics platform) so we can support each other, share interview experiences, practice mock interviews, and exchange tips or resources.

Does anyone know if there is already an active WhatsApp group or community dedicated to this? If there is, please share the link!

If one does not exist yet, drop a comment or send me a DM if you would be interested in joining a new WhatsApp group. We can use it to share leads, keep each other motivated, and talk strategy.

Let's team up and help each other land that next role. Looking forward to connecting!

Databricks Solutions Architects/ Data Managers (USA): Any dedicated communities, interview prep groups, or referral networks?

I'm currently navigating the job market in the US as a Databricks Technical Lead / Data Architect/Data Engineering Managers. Reaching out to see if anyone in similar senior/leadership roles has found good spaces or groups for networking and sharing insights.

A few specific questions for the community:

  1. Slack/Discord/Networking Groups: Are there any active Slack channels, Discord servers, or specific subreddits dedicated to senior Databricks engineers, platform architects, and tech leads? (Not looking for jobs in Databricks company but working on that tool)
  2. Interview Trends & Prep: For those who have interviewed recently for Lead/Architect/Principal roles (either directly at Databricks or companies with heavy Databricks ecosystems): What are panels focusing on most lately? (e.g., Unity Catalog governance transitions, cost/compute optimization, lakehouse architecture design vs. hands-on live architecture coding). Any tips or tricks? Are the interviews more leaning towards AI/ML flows?
  3. Referrals & Opportunities: Is anyone's team currently hiring or open to connecting for senior-level Databricks engineering/architecture roles?

Would love to exchange interview experiences, prep resources, or just connect with others navigating the senior/lead data engineering market right now!

Feel free to drop a comment or DM me directly.

For those who made it to multiple final interview loops before landing an offer: What made the difference?

I'm currently in a frustrating spot (and I know a lot of people here are, too). I'm able to pass initial recruiter screens, technical assessments, and even make it all the way through end-to-end final interview loops—only to get the dreaded "we went with another candidate" email at the very end.

If you are someone who went through a streak of reaching multiple final rounds without landing the job, but finally broke the cycle and got the offer:

  • What do you think actually changed for that specific company? Was it a mindset shift, how you answered questions, or how you approached the team/panel rounds?
  • Did you change how you prepared for technical vs. behavioral discussions? * Are there any specific tips, tricks, or subtle things you started doing in that final round that turned a "maybe" into a "yes"?

Reaching the final round repeatedly feels like doing 90% of the work with nothing to show for it. Would love to hear any insights, advice, or stories from those who managed to cross the finish line!

What to expect on CodeSignal Assessment for Lead Data Engineer? (Sample questions / format)

I have an upcoming CodeSignal General Coding Assessment (or custom company assessment hosted on CodeSignal) for a Lead Data Engineer position, and I’m trying to figure out the best way to prepare.

For those who have taken a CodeSignal assessment for senior/lead DE roles recently:

  • Format: Is it typically the standard 4-question General Coding Framework (e.g., matrix manipulation, string manipulation, full implementation), or do DE assessments usually lean heavily into SQL, Python/Pandas, and Data Structures?
  • Question Types: What kind of problems should I focus on? (e.g., standard LeetCode Mediums/Hards, data transformation tasks, API/class design, SQL queries?)
  • Lead Level Specifics: Do they include system design/architecture questions within the CodeSignal platform, or is it purely hands-on coding?

If anyone has sample question types, advice on time management, or key topics to review, I’d greatly appreciate it!

What to expect in a 1st round technical interview for a Data Engineering Manager (Databricks focused)?

I have a first-round technical interview coming up for a Data Engineering Manager role. The company’s data stack is heavily built around Databricks, and they mentioned this round will focus on technical architecture and ecosystem knowledge, rather than a live coding/LeetCode session.

Since I'm transitioning into a role that balances people leadership with hands-on technical direction for a Databricks shop, I wanted to see what the community thinks I should prepare for in this initial technical screen.

For those who have interviewed for or hired for similar DEM roles, what are the "must-know" concepts they are likely to probe into? I
