First time to proper stylist, 50M

I'm a 50 year old man with long straight hair (mid-back, haven't been in the barber for over 3 years) and want to get an age-appropriate cut and style. I have NEVER been to a real salon before, and just booked for a same-day cut in the small town I'm in.

My questions - Should I wash hair and go in with it wet? Or do they wash? Or...?

Is a style usually included with a cut?

Also, is there any common faux pas that a dude that's never been to a real stylist often commits that you could help me avoid?

Thanks!
