Sewing Geotextile Fabric

I am on a construction project on a superfund site. Very bad contaminated soil. The EPA is providing oversight and it has been challenging. There is an existing geotextile fabric 18" below grade. Any penetration through the membrane needs a 3' overlap. I need to put geotextile fabric into the holes for the bollards for the transformer pad and overlap by 3'. This is a major pain in the ass. Another option is to sew the geotextile fabric together (also sounds like a pain in the pain). Does anyone have any recommendations for sewing new geotextile fabric to an existing fabric. TIA
