Nighttime pain
I’m 4 weeks post op ACL BTB autograft and overall doing pretty well. Just ACL so didn’t need a brace and I was off crutches by POD4 or 5. Back at work after a week bc I didn‘t have a choice. Was able to get a full painless rotation on the bike a couple days ago so pretty excited about that!
My biggest thing right now is this extreme hamstring pain I get every night. Usually starts waking me up around 3/4 and then I wake up intermittently until morning. Its mostly medial and it’s almost like having a Charlie horse in my hamstring tendon. Contracting my quad or engaging any muscle in my leg at all makes it worse but I also can’t help but do that, it’s like a reflex from the pain. I don’t have this at any other time of the day despite being very active. Its super annoying and affects the quality of my sleep, and does not seem to be improving in severity or frequency.
My PT thinks it’s just from the hamstring contracting so frequently to protect the knee that its spasming from working overtime. Does anyone else experience this?? I feel crazy.
