Chess.com Has a Serious User Trust Problem: My Paid Account Disappeared Without Explanation
I’m posting this because Chesscom support has been absolutely unacceptable, and this situation shows how badly they can treat even paying users.
I had a paid yearly Diamond membership on Chess.com. Last week, I contacted support because I wanted to create a fresh account and asked if my paid membership, friends list, blogs, and account-related data could be transferred.
That was a simple support question.
Instead of getting proper help, I waited around 4–5 days for a response.
Then, roughly within the same week, my paid account suddenly disappeared from the platform.
Not closed.
Not banned.
Not explained.
Just gone.
When I tried logging in with my email, Chesscom asked me to create a brand-new account, as if my previous account never existed.
So from my side, I lost access to:
- my paid yearly Diamond membership
- my blogs
- my friends list
- my profile history
- my account content
- my account-related data
I never asked them to delete my account.
I never asked them to remove my data.
I never agreed to lose access to the service I paid for.
I asked about transferring my membership/account-related items to a fresh account, and somehow after that my paid account disappeared.
After this happened, I contacted support again from a new account. It has already been two days and I still have no meaningful answer, no explanation, no restoration, no refund, and no clear timeline.
For a company as big as Chesscom, this is seriously embarrassing.
They are happy to take money from users for premium memberships, but when something goes seriously wrong, the support experience is slow, unclear, and completely unprofessional.
A paid user should not have to chase support for days after their account disappears. A paid account should not vanish from the platform without warning or explanation. A serious company should not leave a customer sitting there wondering if their money, account content, and personal data are just gone.
This is not a small bug. This is a paid service and account data disappearing without explanation.
From a customer perspective, this feels extremely unfair and potentially deceptive. I paid for a yearly membership, lost access to the account connected to that membership, lost account content that mattered to me, and still cannot get a proper answer.
It also raises a major trust issue with the platform. If Chesscom can’t quickly explain or fix a situation where a paid account disappears, how are users supposed to trust them with memberships and our money?
I already contacted support. I posted a Trustpilot review. I am also considering legal, billing, and data protection complaints if this is not resolved.
Has anyone else had a paid Chesscom account disappear like this?
And is there any real way to reach someone at Chesscom who actually takes these issues seriously?
