Clerics and Gods
One aspect of D&D 5e that I hated is that the cleric domains were no longer linked to a deity. You could be a cleric of Moradin, dwarven god of creation and choose the Evil domain. makes no sense.
Clerics are, after all, god´s representatives on earth. Therefore, they have to obey the deity´s dogmas, teachings and rulings, which in game mechanics are translated into the domains (powers and spells).
I can´t see a catholic priest deciding to choose the "murder" domain and go on a killing spree in the name of god. (this is not a discussion about templars, etc etc, before someone jumps in).
In D&D, the deity´s are much more present in the daily lives of the people and if a cleric does something that violates their dogma, they will be punished (lose spells, need to atone, etc).
Does anybody know if DC20 lore will have the domains linked to the gods or it´ll be free/optimized choice like 5e?
