
School Advice
Hi Everyone,
I know no one can offer definitive answers but was just looking for a bit of input as I am on my own for this process. I am really disappointed in my MCAT that came back yesterday as it does not match the rest of my application and is really crushing my confidence so schools have been a bit of a challenge to select.
NC Resident, UNC Chapel Hill undergrad, 2 gap years
Stats:
3.97 cgpa
3.91 sgpa
511 (127, 127, 128, 129) - I know it's not objectively bad but my FL average was 518 so just sucks is all and cuts out a ton of options.
ECs:
700 clinical paid hours in NIH position, projected over 1000
3100 research hours at NIH and undergrad, 2 posters (one national), 2 manuscripts in progress, 1 acknowledgement
200 volunteer hours for non-profit providing water solutions to rural India (did all the grant writing and outreach)
250 transfer student mentor
375 hours with nonprofit for global engagement, made two curricula and organized high profile diplomacy events, traveled to different countries
180 language exchange program, money goes to refugees getting work permits in new countries in exchange for language practice
Awards:
300 hours national fully funded scholarship to study language from state department
Another grant to study language classes in DC

Mom diagnosed with metastatic cancer junior year of college. I am primary caretaker so just have dealt with a ton since all of this started. I also only really want to stay on east coast due to this.
