Pixel Watch 4 not showing as connected during Google Health Coach workouts—anyone else seeing this?
Has anyone else experienced this with a Pixel Watch and Health Coach workouts?
I’m using a Pixel 10 Pro XL, Pixel Watch 4, and recently added a Fitbit Air. Whenever I start a guided workout in Health Coach (formerly Fitbit Coach), the app warns me that there are no compatible devices connected to track health metrics.
If I check the Connected Devices section during the workout, it only shows my Pixel phone. My Pixel Watch 4 is nowhere to be found.
Here’s the confusing part: after I finish the workout, all of my health data is there, including heart rate readings from the watch. So the watch was clearly connected and tracking the workout the entire time, even though the app acted like it wasn’t.
What’s even stranger is that after adding the Fitbit Air, the app correctly recognizes the Fitbit Air during workouts but still doesn’t show the Pixel Watch 4. Outside of workouts, the Connected Devices screen correctly displays all three devices (Pixel phone, Pixel Watch 4, and Fitbit Air).
Is this a bug, or is this just how the app is supposed to work? I’d like some sort of confirmation during workouts that the Pixel Watch is actually connected and being used to track my metrics.
More broadly, does anyone else feel like the integration between Pixel phones, Pixel Watches, Fitbit devices, and the Health app could be better? Apple and Garmin both seem to provide a more transparent experience when it comes to device syncing and workout tracking. With Garmin, for example, I can create a workout on my phone, sync it to my watch, leave my phone behind, complete the workout, and then review everything afterward with no confusion about which device is doing what.
Curious if other Pixel Watch users are seeing the same behavior or if there’s a setting I’m missing. This has been happening even when the FitBit app was in that public preview beta.
