Can't reach server externally?
Looking for some help, my networking skills are falling short. Let me know if this is the right place for this question or if I should take it elsewhere.
I had a home server working for hosting games at my last place. I use no-ip to be able to reach that server from the outside and that worked great. However, I moved into a new place recently and the same setup won't let me through. I can ping/otherwise reach the no-ip hostname just fine, but trying to connect to the server in any game gives me a timeout error.
I've tried nearly every option my router will give me, but what I'm struggling with in particular is finding a good way to prove what's causing the block. My ISP claims they don't have any default blocks/firewalls in place and I'm in a townhouse so I don't have direct access to the modem. Is there a tool or test/set of tests that anyone can suggest to help determine why I'm not making it from the no-ip dynamic DNS service in to my server that it's configured to?
This feels vague to me as I write it, I'm not trying to break rule #2 on purpose, but I think the fact that I can't determine what's stopping it is a large part of the issue. Thanks in advance for any ideas.
