Teacher “advocated” for peer and lied about me to admin
Union member and had union representation during the meeting.
A staff member accused me of trying to destroy our department for sharing negative comments others had made about my coworker. The staff member who made the accusations did it on behalf of the coworker I spoke to (whom I’m close to) without their consent or additional context.
During the “meeting” I called out that the two coworkers who were mad at me for sharing what they said while they denied the interaction the entire time. Admin even said it seemed out of character for them to speak negatively about another.
I have screenshots of these interactions as well as another reputable coworker (long time employee of the district and a part of leadership) who was present while they ragged on my close coworker. He is willing to go to admin and explain this to advocate for me as I already sent the screenshots to admin.
Admin is being responsive as I said I didn’t feel comfortable to express concerns since I was new to the school/district but felt my coworker had the right to know what they had been saying and took full accountability for the impact I had sharing what I knew.
Am I in the wrong here? I fully took responsibility while the other coworkers are not and are insisting I’m making stuff up to ruin our department. I rarely speak to the coworker who accused me and am very brief and cordial to the other, but I have felt like the odd one out the entire year.
As of now, I am told my job is safe for next year, but that admin will be speaking with the coworker I am close to for more context/information, and they (the coworker I am close to) admitted they had no idea any of this was happening until after the fact and do not agree with the person who accused me.
I do not feel that I should build relationships anymore outside of my direct circle and regret sharing any information (I thought I was protecting them from sharing information that could be used against them.)
