Walmart Gave Me the “G AMP” Generic Adderall XR After Walgreens Failed Me

Has anyone tried the generic Adderall XR from Granules Pharmaceuticals? The capsule is blue and white and says “G AMP XR 15 mg 031.”

I normally use Walgreens because that’s my go-to pharmacy. The first few months were fine. My doctor sent the prescription, Walgreens had it in stock, I picked it up, and life was peaceful. I thought, “Wow, that was easy.” Then life said, “Just kidding.”

The next month, every Walgreens around me was out of stock. Not just my Walgreens. Every. Single. One. I called like 8 stores, got the same answer everywhere, and realized this was about to become my new unpaid part-time job.

My prescription was originally for 30 mg, but since the 30s vanished, my doctor switched it to 15 mg capsules so I could take two. Some stores had the 15s, but they were already promised to other people, which I understood, but it was still annoying being told they technically had them… just not for me.

I finally found a Walgreens farther out with the 15 mg in stock, got them filled, and thought, “Crisis handled.” LOL. Adorable.

The next month, the 15s were out too. The 30s were still out everywhere. I was picking up my nephew’s atomoxetine and asked about mine one more time. The tech was super sweet and checked, but they only had ONE capsule left. I almost asked if I could take that one, but then pictured the pharmacist looking at me like, “Ma’am… are you okay?”

The tech told me I could transfer it to Walmart or CVS. I called Walmart around 6 PM, and the lady said she couldn’t tell me if they had it in stock unless I transferred it first. She said it in that stern pharmacy voice like I was asking what aisle they keep the vault in. Ma’am, I’m not trying to rob Walmart. I’m just trying to see if my brain can come to work this month.

The scary part was that with controlled substances, you can only transfer so many times, so if Walmart didn’t have it, I could’ve been stuck in prescription limbo. I thought about CVS because it was probably cheaper, but I ran the same risk, so I picked Walmart and prayed.

At 6:49 PM, I got a text saying it was ready. They closed at 7 PM, so I waited until the next day. The total was $161 for 60 capsules of 15 mg because I take 30 mg a day. $161. For generic Adderall. Geeeeez.

Walgreens usually gives me Lannett or Rhodes, but Walmart gave me this blue and white “G AMP XR 15 mg 031,” which I believe is Granules Pharmaceuticals. So now I’m hoping this expensive little bottle actually shows up and does its job.

Has anyone taken the Granules generic Adderall XR? Did it work well? Did it last as long as other manufacturers? Did it feel smooth, weak, weird, crashy, or like your brain finally clocked in? I know everyone reacts differently, but I’d love to hear real experiences.
