Chemo and ADT
57 yo, PSA 14, Gleason 9 group V, (4+5), PSMA PET shows spread to 3 pelvic lymph nodes. I am halfway through 6 infusions of docetaxel. My current numbers are getting better, PSA is down to 0.3 and testosterone is down to 17 (from 443). The chemo is rough and each infusion leaves me with a slightly longer recovery time. I have 3 more to go. I was told that my ADT will be indefinite due to the aggressiveness of my cancer and the risk of spread. The oncologist said that people in my situation live much longer if they can keep the testosterone below 20.
I am starting to really feel the side effects of the ADT and grappling with the fact that they will get worse and are potentially permanent. I tell myself it beats dying from cancer. It is a tough road.
