I’m rewatching S5:E5, and Kody is burying their family dog, Drake. What struck me is how similar the whole process is to what we later saw with Garrison. He even talks about digging the grave himself as a way to grieve.
It made me think about the way Kody seems to view relationships. We’ve talked endlessly about how he appears to view his wives as possessions, but does that extend to his children too?
Does he value them primarily when they’re loyal to him, obedient, or fulfilling the role he expects from them? And once they stop “performing” that role, does he emotionally discard them?
Watching him talk about grief and burying Drake knowing what eventually happens with Garrison just hits very differently on a rewatch.
