Should I take a 5.4 LPA placement offer if it blocks me from applying to 7–10 LPA companies?

I'm facing a placement dilemma and would like some advice from people who have gone through campus placements.

My college has a policy where if I accept an offer of 5.4 LPA, I can later apply only to companies offering at least 2x that package (around 11 LPA+).

The issue is that I'm not very confident about cracking 11+ LPA companies, but I feel I have a decent chance at companies in the 7–10 LPA range. If I secure the 5.4 LPA offer, I would become ineligible for many of those opportunities.

At the same time, rejecting a guaranteed offer feels risky because there is no certainty of getting a better one later.

If you were in this situation, would you:

  • Take the 5.4 LPA offer as a safety net?
  • Or take the risk and keep yourself eligible for the 7–10 LPA companies?

I'd love to hear how you would think about this decision.
