What could be happening?

Sorry, dont have a video of it and maybe you guys would need a video to really pinpoint whats going on but let me at least explain it. My son is a lefty pitcher and when he really tries to pitch hard he seems to pretty frequently hit a right hand better. Its almost like he is yanking his pitch too much. What could be causing this? Opening his front shoulder? Holding onto the ball too long? What are the common reasons for something like this happening?

Son gets a lot of contact and fouls a lot of balls off but he seems to always be late and not hitting the ball with much "oomph". I have a bunch of other videos from this game but just posted this one. Anyone have any tips on what i could work on with him to get him to improve on his hitting?
