Fender Masterbuilt or Two Rock Amp Head?

I’m currently torn between buying a guitar or an amp head, and both deals seem unusually good.

Option 1 is a 2015 Fender Custom Shop Master Built Strat Deluxe for around ~4.1k USD
For a Master Built Fender, that price feels very low. The reason it’s cheaper is probably because it has standard Custom Shop pickups instead of handwound/Master Design pickups.

Option 2 is a Two-Rock Studio Signature 35 head for around ~2.7k USD, which also feels extremely cheap compared to the usual market price .

Context:

  • I already ordered a Tom Anderson Angel (HSH, 24 fret), but it won’t arrive until around October.
  • Right now I only really have a Tele to use temporarily.
  • I currently own a Supro 1699RH head.
  • I used to have another HugesKettner head too, but I’m planning to sell it if i buy new gear.
  • Most of the reason I’m interested in both the MB Strat and the Two-Rock is because I’m a huge fan of John Mayer.

My biggest dilemma is this:

I already HAVE a tube amp (Supro), so I’m worried the Two-Rock may not blow me away as much as I imagine. I know it’ll probably be “better,” but I’m not sure if it’ll feel dramatically different enough to justify it.

At the same time:

  • I currently don’t really have a “main” high-end guitar in hand yet until the Anderson arrives.
  • The MB Strat would instantly solve that and probably make me want to play every day.
  • But the Two-Rock could become the long-term foundation of my entire rig.

Another factor:

  • I live partly in Australia, and the Studio Signature 35 is relatively compact/light, so I could realistically bring it on flights and keep using it long term.
  • But if I buy the MB Strat, I’d probably need to sell one of my current amps to balance the cash situation.

So I’m stuck between:

  1. Buying the MB Strat because I currently lack a proper main guitar and the deal seems rare.
  2. Buying the Two-Rock because it may elevate every guitar I own in the future, especially for Mayer-style clean/edge breakup tones.

Would love opinions from people who have actually owned:

  • Master Built Fenders
  • Two-Rocks
  • Or upgraded from “good amps” to boutique D-style amps.

Did the Two-Rock genuinely change your experience, or was it more of a subtle refinement over already-good tube amps?
