Muscle gain with low calories
49 year old man, 66.7kg, 175 cm
I have ulcerative colitis - it's been a mess for a decade or so. I'm currently in remission with a new drug and doing well. I've been on a lot of steroids since about 2010, consequently I developed osteopenia, confirmed by DEXA scan.
My doctor reccomend resistance training to increase bone density so 10 weeks ago I joined a gym. I really enjoy it, way more than I expected too. So now my goals have shifted from bone density to - I want to have normal bones but I also want be properly strong.
I have a fucked up relationship with food, for years eating is associated with pain. My TTDE is 2130 but I really struggle to eat more than 1600 cals.
I suppose my question is - is it possible to get strong and build muscle with such a deficit?
