how am i doing so far?

i just finished up my first year of college at a large, public, SEC school. here are things i've accomplished so far and are going to complete my sophomore year.

cGPA: 3.77, sGPA: 3.71 || major: neuroscience, minor: spanish

volunteering

  1. i help teach native Spanish speakers in the area "everyday" conversations in English, such as healthcare visits, occupational endeavors, and directions. (~30 hrs)
  2. i volunteer at a local hospital, where we receive different "assignments" every semester. so far i've worked in their cancer infusion center and surgical waiting room. i am on track to be one of their "gold standard members". (~126 hrs)
  3. i participate in peer education by playing games with students around campus on the resources they have available to them, mental health, food, and more. (~60 hrs)
  4. this upcoming semester, i plan on setting up local in-person support groups with a local TBI foundation. this will be very low commitment due to the schedule of these support groups (maybe 20 hrs a semester)

research

  1. i am in a 4-year transdisciplinary research program through my university's honors college. i chose the topic of cultural disparities due to the overrepresentation of Western societies in modern-day research. (~126 hrs)
  2. i joined a research lab (wet lab) related to neurobiology / TBI of a certain kind of fish. i don't know if i'm allowed to disclose any more than that, but that's the general idea. (joined a summer project, but shadowed during spring, so ~13.25 hrs)
  3. this next semester, i was thinking of joining either a psychedelics lab (a professor i had twice in the spring who i think would give a good rec letter), or a lab in the department of engineering focused on brain machine interfaces.

clubs / membership

  1. i am not currently super involved in any clubs. i was thinking of joining my university's club called dare to diagnose or MAPS (minority association of pre-medical scholars).

leadership

  1. i am currently in the process of starting a chapter of Nu Rho Psi at my university, the national honor society for neuroscience. into this program, they need "points" to be inducted, in which they can earn from attending educational events, meetings, or volunteering with aforementioned TBI foundation. (~25 hrs)
  2. i am a Kaplan SBA for this upcoming semester (will get ~70 hrs)
  3. this upcoming semester, i am going to apply to house a chapter of Synapse (non-profit). i am also thinking about becoming a research ambassador and AED directorate of community.

mentoring / tutoring / teaching

  1. i am going to be a statistics for psychology (and maybe gen chem II) tutor this upcoming semester.
  2. i tried doing tfa, but i genuinely don't have time for it. maybe junior year? i was also thinking about being a "biology bootcamp mentor", but it is the week before schools starts and >12 hrs a day for that one week.

clinical

  1. i am a medical assistant at a primary / urgent care. i have thought about doing another specialty, but the hours and flexibility would probably work the best for me at this clinic. (~473 hrs).

presentations

  1. i presented my research at my university's annual conference for my 4-year transdisciplinary research program. (guaranteed 2+ more by the time of application).

hobbies

  1. scrapbooking my college life so far! (~50 hrs)

awards / honors / recognitions

  1. merit scholarship
  2. received scholarship for my county
  3. other honor societies

shadowing

  1. none yet..

i know that this is more than 15, but i thought it would be easier to narrow down than build up closer to application time. any advice?
