I'm pretty done with the "what was that last part?" gag.
Example:
"I've tried everything! Sleeping, exercising, farting on you while you sleep, better diet!"
"What was that last part?"
"Better diet? Oh well I've been trying this new.."
"No, before that"

Retcon comes from a world where heroes like Gwenpool and Superboy-Prime are just comic characters. She’s a huge fan, especially of the old Amalgam stuff, and gets genuinely upset that that universe was basically abandoned.
So she starts making her own amalgam fan art, obsessively blending Marvel and DC characters into what she sees as the “correct” version of reality. Eventually she draws a version of herself as a hero called Retcon, someone “meant” to fix continuity and create the perfect merged universe.
That’s when something impossible happens. While Doctor Strangefate is traveling across realities trying to save his own, he briefly tears through her universe. It leaves a crack in reality and she doesn’t hesitate. She jumps in.
Falling through that magical void warps her. When she lands in the real Marvel/DC continuum, she’s changed. She can step in and out of the “pages” of reality, move between scenes, and physically manipulate continuity. She can rip events apart, paste things together, and rewrite what’s happening like it’s all just panels and paper.
In her mind, she’s finally where she belongs, and now she’s going to fix everything.
In reality, she’s tearing it apart.
