Hey all—magnet fisherman here 👋

I just hit a spot under a train bridge and pulled up a ton of railroad spikes.

Quick question: if I clean them up a bit (remove rust so stamps are visible), would blacksmiths actually want these? Or are they basically scrap value in most cases?

Not trying to get rich—just wondering if there’s a better home for them than the scrapyard. Appreciate any insight!

EDIT: Didn’t realize all the legality issues I was wading into! Sounds like it’s a better route than scrapping to bring it to the community blacksmith group in my city and see who wants some metal. Maybe they’d barter some classes? I’ve always wanted to at least observe!

…to a blacksmith? I wonder if they’d give me more than just scrapping all this? I fished under a train bridge and I’m just scratching the surface. This area is more metal than rock.
