Biopsy for a new nodule
Good evening,
I am a 38-year-old woman.
Today, as I do regularly, I had a breast ultrasound because I have fibroglandular breasts.
Report:
The breast echostructure is fibroglandular in type.
Compared with the previous examination of 02/11/2023, the three known fibroadenomas remain substantially unchanged, located respectively in the right breast, in Q1, measuring 31.2 mm in diameter, currently associated with dystrophic calcification; in the same breast, in Q3, measuring 10.9 mm in diameter; and in the left breast, in Q1, measuring 10.3 mm in diameter.
A few microcysts are noted.
On today’s examination, in the right breast, in Q5-2-4, a 5.4 mm hypoechoic nodule with a vascular pole was detected.
This finding, considered to be newly appeared, warrants needle biopsy assessment or at least ultrasound follow-up in 4–5 months.
The presence of reactive bilateral axillary lymph nodes is also observed.
CONCLUSION: Ultrasound finding of multiple fibroadenomas, with the appearance of a nodule in the right breast (U3-4) that requires further investigation.
I am very frightened. I have a case of breast cancer in a paternal aunt at age 45/50.
I have booked a needle biopsy for June 9th, which was the earliest available date.
Should I try to bring it forward elsewhere?
How worried should I be?
