Questions about endoscopic release surgery (logistics of surgery)
So my questions aren’t really about the carpal tunnel release itself but more about the overall logistics of being at the surgery center. It’s outpatient endoscopic and I’ll be doing my right hand first, left later on. I’ll be getting anesthesia but not to the extent of having a tube down my throat. It seems pretty simple so I’m not worried about the surgery itself. I am however an anxious eldest daughter and want to know every detail of all the secondary stuff.
- Is this a take everything off and just wear a hospital gown situation or can I keep my underwear on? Do they give me one of those hairnet cap things or can I keep my wig on or keep a headwrap on?
- I have permanent bracelets on my left arm (shown in picture). The red string bracelet I can easily take off but the permanent bracelets would have to be cut off. I’ll ask my surgeon during my first surgery but was just curious if anyone else had them and had to remove them. If they’ll have to be removed I would rather do it ahead of time and get them removed at the joining link so I can have them put back on.
- I have a gel manicure, does it need to be removed? Last time I had surgery was 20 years ago on my ankle and they said no nail polish so I’m wondering if things have changed.
Also, will I need to take my nose and ear piercings out? - I’m self employed, an illustrator and stationery brand owner, and I know I won’t be able to fill orders for about a week but my husband and sister can help with that. Since I’m right handed and doing that first, how long can I expect not to be able to draw for?
Thanks in advance!
