My magical galaxy journey

I started on this during the tonecheer event we had earlier in the year, however, due to a lot of life stuff happening I just finished this a couple weeks ago. When I started it, I thought it was so technical, and it wasn't going to be as much fun as the other booknooks that I had enjoyed putting together, however, as I progressed in this, I fell deeply in love with it.

I became totally obsessed with it, like I do with all my nooks, and this being my first tonecheer, I was amazed at how intricate it was. I was laughing to myself at how outrageous the colors were and how unbelievably detailed every inch of this was.

I would be remiss if I didn't mention as many people have on this sub about the gears, I use the wood wax or wood lubricant that pluck had suggested, if mine was still a little crunchy at the end but it wasn't for lack of trying. I did make it across the finish line with everything working. Although I did have a heart-stopping incident of one of my gems had fallen off and when I went to turn it on to make sure it was still working, the whole thing locked up and my fiance is always saying, oh my gosh, I couldn't do these. I would take a hammer to them, and the thought did flit across my mind: I'm going to take a hammer to this LOL. but I figured it out and fixed it and that was really satisfying too.

I painted and color matched all edges. I used up my fresh box of nicety markers in the pink-purple range, probably to the tune of five or six of them. I think someone else here had mentioned using a gold marker on the masts and so I had bought a gold marker at some point and forgot I had it and found it and was like oh hell yes. So I did color the masts and the sail pins with a gold marker, and that was super fun and enjoyable as well, including instructive

I'm really proud of the end product. I shared it on my regular social media and people lost their minds.

So I'm grateful for the event for taking me way outside my comfort zone, and I'm a huge Tonecheer fan now, and actually I'm going to start the European travels booknook forthwith!
