Family got a macaw but we have never owned a bird before

Hi all, my family decided to get a macaw yesterday. We have never owned a bird before and have two dogs and a cat. She is about 40 and has previously lived with dogs and cats and not had any issues with them. Any tips for reducing her anxiety and stress the first few days? What is the best way to bond with her?

I am aware that these birds are not very "beginner friendly" and take lots of time to take care of. My parents are both retired and prepared to take care of it, but we want to know how to build trust with it first. My family didnt do much research before getting the bird from a friend so I'm trying to do as much as I can 🫩
