Boyd refuses Jade‘s initial plan to retrieve the bones because there was no second exit and how it is unacceptable from his (military) perspective.

How is it believable that Boyd and the people of the town had no plans to secure the talismans, considering that it is their only defense against the creatures? The recent break-ins to get the MIY’s suit case & the drawings should have put them on high alert.
