I’m currently working in the U.S. on TN status, and my employer is considering sponsoring me for an EB-2 green card through the PERM process.
If my employer completes the PERM process and my I-140 is approved, would I still be able to renew my TN afterward?
I understand that TN is not a dual-intent status, so I’m concerned that an approved I-140 could create an immigrant-intent issue when renewing my TN.
Has anyone successfully renewed their TN after an employer-sponsored EB-2 PERM and I-140 approval? Did you renew through USCIS (I-129) or at the border, and were you questioned about immigrant intent?

I’m a Canadian citizen currently working in the U.S. on TN status.

I understand that TN can generally be renewed multiple times, but I’m wondering about the long-term risk. For example, if someone has been working in the U.S. on TN for 10, 15, or even 20 years, could CBP or USCIS eventually become more likely to deny a TN renewal because of how long they’ve been living and working in the U.S.?

How long can a Canadian citizen work in the U.S. on TN status if they don’t plan to apply for a green card?
I understand TN status can be granted for up to 3 years at a time and may be renewed. Is there any maximum number of years you can stay/work in the U.S. on TN, or can you keep renewing it indefinitely?

Can I Get a New TN After I-140 Approval?

If my PERM and I-140 are approved, but I later leave my employer, can I still apply for a new TN to join another company?

Would the approved I-140 cause any issues with TN due to immigrant intent? Has anyone successfully obtained a new TN after I-140 approval?
