Got 2 years tourist visa approved
Just got approved for a 2-year UK tourist visa 🇬🇧 and wanted to share my experience because Reddit genuinely helped me a lot while I was preparing my application.
I’m an Indian passport holder, work remotely in tech, and had already visited the UK once last year. I also had travel history across a few other countries, and I think having a clean travel record definitely helped.
One thing I learned during this process is that UK visitor visas are much more about clarity and consistency than trying to “impress” with too many documents.
For this application, I kept things very straightforward:
- hotel bookings for the entire trip
- employment verification + NOC
- bank statements
- payslips + ITR
- cover letter
- property documents
- travel itinerary
- investment portfolio
My trip plan was:
London → Edinburgh → Scottish Highlands → York → Lake District → London
A small thing I was worried about was salary variation in one month because I had received a performance bonus. Instead of uploading pages of explanations, I just added a simple line in my cover letter mentioning that minor salary variations were due to payroll adjustments and bonuses. My payslips already supported it, so I didn’t over-explain.
Another thing people often ask about: I work remotely, and it was not an issue at all. My employment letter clearly mentioned my role, salary, approved leave, and expected return date.
Also interesting — during biometrics, VFS didn’t keep my passport immediately. The process was mostly digital/eVisa based, and I later received confirmation of my visa approval and linked immigration status online.
Honestly, the biggest thing that helped was keeping the application clean and believable. I avoided unnecessary relationship documents, invitation letters, long explanations, etc. and focused only on proving:
- genuine tourism
- stable finances
- stable employment
- strong ties back home
The entire process was much smoother than I expected.
If anyone is applying for a UK tourist visa and feels overwhelmed, feel free to ask questions. Happy to help where I can :)
