Longtime fan, thoughts on the new direction after the Philly show 10/3
Anberlin has been my favorite band and a huge part of my life for the past 20+ years. I’ve seen them play at least 25 times, including their the NYC Cities/NTFP shows and traveled to the “final” show @ Disney in 2014. Last night was my second time seeing them with Matty and while it’s definitely not the same as it was with Stephen, it’s still a great show and well worth seeing. Matty has that “frontman” energy and the rest of the guys are still on top of their games (I think there was a fill-in drummer?). This was my first time hearing Gravity and it’s definitely a different direction and it comes off great in person. I miss Stephen and will always be hopeful for a reunion but I’m grateful that the band lives on in this new iteration. Just my two cents that nobody asked for.
