Help checking my pronunciation of biblical Hebrew

Hi folks!

So my choir are performing an arrangement that I did of an anti-Zionist Yiddish lament on Friday, and during the piece I plan to recite part of Bereshit 4:10-11 (*"What have you done? Your brother's blood cries out to me from the ground! And now you are cursed even more than the ground which opened its mouth to swallow the blood from your hand."*) in biblical Hebrew.

I think I've got my pronunciation down pat as I've been researching it for quite some time, but is there someone who'd be willing and able to listen to a recording of my pronunciation to ensure I'm doing it right and getting the correct syllable emphasis?

Thanks khaveyrem.

Please be aware of this so-called "anti-Zionist" white supremacist grifter

This person is named Harry J Cook. He's a very popular online influencer and I've met him at a number of rallies for Palestine and he seemed nice enough at the time, however with this blatant holocaust denial and Hitler apologia it's clear he's been going down a very dark rabbit hole on the internet.

He posted this video blatantly sympathising with Hitler and denying the holocaust, while also repeating fascist propaganda about "Bolsheviks".

If you look at his Instagram he spends a lot of time making it all about himself, and very little of his content (if at all) is dedicated to elevating the voices of Palestinians.

It's very telling that he's been spending his time reading right wing anti-Soviet propaganda and the writings of Hitler, instead of, say, reading the writings of Edward Said, Rashid Khalidi, Mohammed el-Kurd, et cetera. It shows his interests aren't in liberating Palestine but in making the movement all about his white self.

He claims to be a "leftist" but spent the entire time while this video was up defending himself and refusing to accept criticism, and then deleted it without acknowledgement or apology.

Something something white liberals et cetera.

From a mainstream Australian newspaper

The year is 1938. Cartoons appear in national newspapers depicting an Abrahamic religious and ethnic minority as large-nosed, swarthy, hairy, bearded inhuman savages from the Orient determined to destroy our Greco-Roman way of life.

Australian healthcare licensing regulatory body admits that the far-right "Special Envoy to Combat Antisemitism" successfully applied pressure to implement the IHRA definition of antisemitism.

For those unaware, Australia's quisling prime minister appointed an utterly ghoulish Kahanist as its "Special Envoy to Combat Antisemitism" without any democratic process, a South African whose family trust has ties to white nationalist and pro-settler groups and used to be the head of one of the chief Israel lobbyist groups in the country.

Please donate to help Mohammed achieve his university dreams

I was immensely privileged to speak with Mohammed a few days ago. He is an extremely gifted 18 year-old from Gaza who studied for his high school exams online during a genocide and managed to achieve an exceptionally high grade (approx. 97%) in his finals.

He wants to become an engineer and is so talented that he has already been offered a full scholarship to a university in Tunisia, however the occupation has made it so incredibly expensive to leave Gaza that he cannot afford to attend.

Speaking with him about his experiences and how he is feeling was utterly heartbreaking and brought me to tears, but I know we can make a small difference in his and his family's life. He deserves to follow his passion and to use that incredible intellect to support his family.

Please give generously, if you can.

How are we supposed to react when prominent anti-Zionists say stuff like this? Are we able to even confront them or are we supposed to just take it on the chin?

[Edit to add]: this person isn't a nobody. They are a very prominent and popular activist who has also done some very admirable work. I'm not trying to debate the person in particular, rather the increasing phenomenon of people unleashing their fury at Israel and Zionism in ways that are directly anti-Jewish or bigoted in other ways incl. transphobia or racism.

I'm wary of being accused of "centering Jewish feelings" or "tone policing" but this is just blatant justification of the holocaust, ethnic cleansing and pogroms based on what Zionists did *afterwards*.

At what point are we able to call this kind of stuff out?

I know there are Zionist bots out there trying to paint the movement as antisemitic but what happens when these comments are actually coming from someone real and famous or prominent?

Are we genuinely just meant to accept that this is okay rhetoric provided the person claims to have the right idpol justifications to say it?

I hesitate to mention this stuff for obvious reasons (namely the holocaust being perpetrated in our name) but surely shit like this is just handing ammunition to the Zionists.

At the end of the day, even the most liberal of "liberal" Zionists will stand with the most unhinged, shrieking Kahanists over any Palestinian.

This Reform rabbi is condemning Zohran Mamdani for his speech about Netanyahu, despite making her brand of Zionism appear to be opposed to Netanyahu; but when Netanyahu is criticised by a non-Jewish person, it's time for her to circle the wagons around him.

We have seen this with the NYC Israel Day parade, and we see it now with many in the "liberal Zionist" community making excuse after excuse for Israel's Kahanist government and military.

We have seen this with the "left leaning" Israeli politicians cheering on the settler pogroms the moment one Palestinian dared to fight back against a man brandishing a gun at him.

There is no liberal Zionism. Only a less honest shade of Kahanism.

France24: Hamas dissolves Gaza governing body

I'm really not sure what to think of this, given the imminent takeover by the "Board of Peace", the plans for further ghettoisation of Gaza and Israel's seemingly permanent annexation of 70% of the territory.

Perhaps they're attempting to stop Israel from accusing everyone and anyone of being khamaaaas by simply disbanding?

Anti-Zionism has a white saviour problem.

Posting this here because I have gotten my head bitten off for it in the past in other spaces.
I have seen a growing number of white anti-Zionist activists claiming to be Jewish before going on to push far-right, antisemitic and sometimes downright neo-nazi rhetoric and disinformation about Judaism. Digging into their background reveals they have Jewish ancestry, but were born and raised Christian as descendants of Jewish converts to Christianity.

These people invariably act as some kind of whistle-blower with super secret insider knowledge about Judaism that the sneaky other Jews won't tell the goyim, and have absolutely zero care for anything leftist other than centering their own white voices within the Palestine movement and indulging their inner white saviour complex. Either that, or they chum around with or support actual nazi antisemites and give them a pass for their hatred and weaponisation of Palestinian pain to suit their own white nationalist narrative.

An example would be (and I'm not trying to give too much info away as I'm not interested in singling someone out) that I'm aware of a former Christian Zionist who served in the IOF air force and has always kept super shtum about whatever war crimes they committed whilst doing that, but all of a sudden has become this massive white saviour in the anti-Zionist movement. They have never spoken out about what crimes they may or may not have committed, especially considering how the Israeli air force has been responsible for some of the most disgraceful and bloodthirsty bombings in the past. They have made some really nasty claims about Judaism, such as the idea that we all celebrate mass slaughter on Purim. Despite being open about the fact that they're a former Christian Zionist, they claim to be Jewish and love to present themselves as a representative of the Jewish anti-Zionist community (hint: they aren't).

Another example would be a person on a forum using a "Jewish" flair but is in fact a Christian with Ladino-speaking Spanish heritage, who has mounted thoroughly dishonest and bad-faith defences of openly neo-nazi people by weaponising their own holocaust survivor ancestors to discredit any accusation of their favourite little tradwife America-First influencer, and on other forums mounts incredibly racist defences of transphobic rhetoric by claiming it's "imperialist" to be opposed to POC being transphobic.

I've also seen people claiming Jewish ancestry using the dogwhistle "Talmudic" and claiming that Judaism is a "Babylonian religion of mass slaughter and ethnic domination", and a quick peep into their profile shows they are, indeed, a Christian.

Of course you also have Christian Zionists doing the same, with a literal Anglican priest in my country claiming to be Jewish in order to claim trauma from seeing a kuffiyeh. This person has been shown communicating with neo-nazis and white nationalists as well.

Are we cooked at this point? I don't mention I'm Jewish at rallies any more because tbh I'm actually sick of these grifters centering themselves and people falling for it. Instead of uplifting Palestinians, western anti-Zionists seem far more interested in hoisting up self-styled white saviours with blonde hair and blue eyes and an instagram filled with selfies instead of an inconveniently brown Palestinian.

This makes a tremendous amount of sense.

As someone not raised Zionist, I was genuinely baffled at how and why so many Jews clung so deeply to what was very clearly a nasty, racist and cruel ideology, especially given how well-known the crimes of Israel have been among "liberal" Zionists for many years. I actually thought "Zionist" meant someone like Ben Shapiro who was just a racist POS, until 2023 when I realised just how many (the majority) of us were Zionist and, to be honest, monsters.

But this explanation in this video explains SO MUCH about why Zionism is retained despite its antithetical nature to everything else in mainstream Jewish culture. Where evangelical cultish Christians will tell their children that they must obey, lest they be sent to hell, the Zionist teach their children that they must obey, lest there be a holocaust.

Prominent Australian pro-Palestine activist racially profiled by police

I have met this man several times personally. He knows me and always gives me the most massive bear hug when he sees me at rallies, and he is always overjoyed to see the Jewish bloc standing with Palestine.

He's an absolute mensch with not a single bad bone in his body, a gentle giant and only filled with compassion for his fellow human beings.

We all know that ACAB but to see him being so obviously racially profiled by a group of smug, smirking cops was utterly enraging to see. This man is a beloved fixture of the Sydney Palestine movement.

Note that the moustache being worn by one of the cops in the footage appears to be a very common fashion accessory for NSW Police these days, and I have a sneaking suspicion it is designed to imitate the moustache of notorious Australian neo-nazi Thomas Sewell.

I saw dozens upon dozens of these moustaches being worn by the angry, violent police who bludgeoned people for protesting Isaac Herzog's visit to Australia.

Note also that the same NSW Police Force enthusiastically approved a neo-nazi rally outside the NSW parliament house, and upon investigating themselves concluded that the neo-nazi rally "did not constitute an incitement to racial hatred".

Also important to note that the Australian "Special Envoy to Combat Antisemitism", a far right hardcore Zionist from South Africa with ties to settler organisations and a husband who donates tens of thousands of dollars to white supremacist organisations, did not speak a word about the neo-nazi protest after it happened.

The Australian prime minister ironically used to be a massive activist for Palestine and populist leftist causes, but as he's moved up in politics he's shifted hard to the right, becoming utterly indifferent towards women, POC, First Nations, DV survivors, Muslims, the working class, and of course anti-Zionist Jews (although we are very small in number here).

Now they're blaming Ben-Gvir's behaviour on his "Arabian heritage".

EDIT: note that he's actually not condemning Ben-Gvir, just insulting his heritage. It's actually worse than I initially realised.

This is honestly beyond parody. What next, skull callipers?

When someone pointed out that Kahane, Goldstein, Smotrich, Shamir are all Ashkenazi, this clown then claimed that they had "adopted the attitude of their middle eastern foes".

He also had the nerve to claim anyone calling his post racist was "a colonialist".

Also lmao imagine calling an Iraqi "Arabian" . Can't even be racist properly.

Am I misinterpreting this tweet?

EDIT: I've had a realisation. It seems that BM as an anti-Zionist former Israeli has not completely deconstructed his Israeli/Zionist chauvinism. First of all, he is dictating who is and who isn't a "true ally" which isn't his job as a former colonialist Israeli. He's quite literally talking over the MILLIONS Palestinians who graciously welcome Jewish people into the movement and have not once demanded we link our Judaism to Zionism. He also is exhibiting Israeli chauvinism in that he believes his whacko far-right version of Judaism is the *true* interpretation of Judaism (see his tweets claiming Judaism thinks the ten commandments only apply to Jewish people). He's done an amazing job exposing Zionism and its crimes but that doesn't make him an expert in what he's claiming to be, and it's clear he's got some shit to work out before he makes such confident, declarative statements like this.

It kind of seems like he's implying we should abandon Judaism based on the damage Zionism has done to it and how many of our fellow Jews have become ultranationalist nazis.

If I'm correct this seems to match with a sentiment from certain former Israelis whose upbringing was so steeped in Zionism that they believe it's inherent within Judaism somehow. An example would be Gilad Atzmon who now claims Judaism is the sole reason for the genocide (and has made comments sympathetic to Hitler). There's another former Israeli I know many people respect in this sub so I won't name them but I've seen them agreeing with Atzmon's sentiments and making excuses for his Nazism.

Heck, I have been admonished by some mega atheist anti-Zionist former Israelis who consider any Jewish cultural practice to be inseparable from Zionism or even genocidal interpretations of scripture (eg. Purim, Pesach, Hanukkah).

If my interpretation of BM is right, why do we even have this sub? Every now and then I see someone demanding Jews abandon Judaism because of Zionism and it feels like a cop-out.

If have misinterpreted, then I would be very relieved to know I had done so. I was never raised Zionist, and to be told that Zionism is inherent in my culture is pretty shit tbh.

Hey folks! Sorry if this is a weird question:

So I have this lovely little sterling silver Magen David hamsa pendant/charm which I have worn literally 24/7 for many years (under clothing, so it's not visible), however I am becoming quite tired of how such a symbol has been utterly bastardised again, and again, and again by the Zionist occupation.

More importantly, I was also told by a Palestinian that seeing such a symbol was for them a trigger, and I have no desire to make anyone feel that way if they inadvertently see my necklace (although the only other person who usually sees it is my partner when I'm changing clothes, but still).

However, I'm sure you can imagine I don't want to just chuck this silver pendant in the garbage, so I was wondering if anyone else here has perhaps any knowledge of how to apply some kind of permanent lacquer or enamel to silver in order to either hide/black out the star or perhaps change it to reflect the colours of the Palestinian flag (not sure if this is inappropriate so if any Palestinian comrades could give me an idea of their opinions I'd be very grateful, again I don't want to do something inappropriate!).

Any metalworkers here or people who've done similar in here?

I've already seen brain-broken conservatives claiming this image isn't antisemitic because Polanski is Ashkenazi and therefore "not a Semite".
