Hey all, I'm a rookie renovating my bathroom and feeling like an archaeologist.

This is on the 2nd floor of a townhouse, with a concrete floor. There's a massive lip on top of the floor here, I'm trying to figure out why before I rip it up.

Does anybody know if there's a good reason why the toilet would have been concreted into place? The screed layer is 35 mm deep and the toilet is about 20mm off the floor.
