Update to wingless soldier fly post

I went out hours after my first post and found the bug, it didn't look so well by that stage but its tail was still moving. I attempted to take still images but the quality isn't great. Anyway, if anyone can work out what's happening at it's tail end it would be interesting to know. There are heaps of these insects around my suburb at the moment as it's Autumn here in Melbourne when wingless soldier flies are common.

Wingless soldier fly with live thing emerging from tail?

Melbourne. My research tells me they lay eggs, not live babies. Could it be a parasite?
