People’s Gas blatantly lies to customers?
I had gotten behind on my bill. Gas shut off (I know I am not proud but it’s been tough). They said the only way to reconnect would be to pay the entire past due balance (not ideal but understandable. Had to borrow to pay it).
After paying, they said it would take 24hrs to reconnect service (I was not happy but one day would have to suffice). They said my appointment was set for yesterday Friday May 15th between 12-4pm and they would expedite the request. 2pm comes, nobody. 4pm comes, nobody. I call they said they are still coming out and will transfer me to a supervisor. I am on the phone for 1hr and nobody picks up and call drops.
I call again today. NOW they say there was never an appointment scheduled. I have the screenshot from the app saying my appointment was 15th! And apparently every person and supervisor that looked at my account was laying about my May 15th appointment that was “IN PROGRESS”. Now, reconnection that was scheduled 24hrs after full payment, won’t happen for 7 DAYS from the time of full payment. 7DAYS NO HEAT, 7DAYS NO HOT WATER, 7DAYS NO COOKING GAS. I don’t know what I am going to do. I have a small child and the company BLATANTLY lied to me. Is this the only option we have as Chicagoans? A lying company? Any advice?
