Uzbek gov wants me to pay $500 penalty for late registration - how fucked am I?
Long story but I am here with kind of a tour group, on a visa (my country does not need visas for up to 30 days but because I am here for two months I got one). the leaders of my group were responsible for my registration. They forgot to renew it on the 12 may, we found out 2 days ago and now I am in Karakalpakstan and they’re telling me I’m going to have to pay 6 million som or I’ll get deported. I’m really scared because I don’t want to get my passport taken away, but also I refuse to pay that much money when it’s not my fault. I wasn’t responsible for my registration, but the tour group is not paying saying it’s not their fault. Is there any way around having to pay this fine, or will I get deported if I don’t pay? I’m having to go back to Tashkent to sort this out with the police department, any advice on how to help would be appreciated
