Hello, first time DIYer here. (Hence, the probably stupid question).

I just built this small deck (8×5 feet) over the weekend and crafted a small box that works as a step.

When I walk over the top box, I feel it jiggle a little. How would you fasten it?

Angled screws?

I could go under the deck and try and hit the joists on the small box?

Add weight?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I did not wrap my cedars during the winter and got quite a bit of snowfall. Will these perk up by themselves? How could I fix them?
