I kind of love this game now
So I just finished Hyper Light Drifter and HOLY SHIT THAT WAS FUN. I won't talk about the cool mechanics and the FUCKING BEATIFUL art because I think that'd be like saying the sky is blue. I want to talk about the lore, or what I think the lore is as well as some questions for you guys on what to do now that I finished the game.
Mind you, I haven't looked at any guides and I'm pretty sure there's a lot of stuff I missed, also, all names here are entirely made up by me so please, bear with me.
So we follow the drifter (That's what I call them) in their journey through the land of Hyper Light, a place that was once a prosperous country/kingdom before a catastrophic event occurred that left its capital buried deep underground and the surrounding areas to be scarred forever, this seems to coincide with the arrival of machines of gargantuan proportions, who I will refer to as titans.
Hyper Light seems to be divided into five different districts: The coastal ruins (East of the main town), The high monasteries (North), The crystal forest (West), the Desert (South) and the capital remains at its center.
The titans seem to be machines created at the underground laboratories at the southern desert of Hyper Light that went rogue and started attacking its citizens (They developed guns to fight them, like the crystal cannons found in the scarlet forest).
Now, the drifter's motives for their travel seem to be following a mysterious hound-shaped entity that started appearing alongside an illness the drifter suffers. This illness, aside from causing them to cough blood, connects them to another entity who I'll just call Evil Bobby. Bobby's entire goal seems to be purely to kill the drifter.
After raising the strange pillars found in each of the districts of Hyper Light as well as at least four energy cells (The rhombus slices that you find all over the region) you can access the Forgotten Capital, which seems to be Bobby's home and after facing him, the drifter will destroy a sort of engine that seemed to be keeping the remains of the capital from collapsing and while Bobby's dead, the drifter's sickness is now even worse. It seems that the hound had planned this all along somehow, as they accompany the drifter before the entire place collapses and they leave.
I didn't understand the rest lol, sorry.
Nowwwwwwww, after all that, I want to ask what's next, I know I unlocked the boss rush mode, it seems fun, but I want to find all secrets of the main game first. For one, there seems to be more energy cells to be found, as each district has at least one door that requires 8 of them, idk what's behind the doors or how to find the remaining cells, since only a few of them are marked in the map. There's also some tablets I found that show some text after scanning them, but everything's in strange symbols, is there some cypher a need to find to be able to read them? There are also many doors that require some keys I need to find, I only got two I think and those were pretty damn hidden and idk where the rest of them might be.
