I Hate to Do This: Looking for a Very Specific Kind of Mouthpiece Recommendation
Hi everyone - I swear, I looked through old r/trumpet posts first, and did some Googling myself, but I couldn’t find an answer to this question - might be too specific, might be a skill issue.
I’m trying to find a mouthpiece for lead, under these conditions: after going through all the r/trumpet posts, it seems to me that chasing the lead sound via the diameter of the mouthpiece may not be productive. Fine. I’m used to a Bach 7c mouthpiece, and I’m just going to stick with it. No chasing the Bobby Shew, even if it works well for other people.
However, from what I understand, a shallower mouthpiece (or maybe one with a V cup instead of a U cup? Not sure) is likely to give a brighter sound. But for the life of me, I can’t figure out what mouthpiece has a diameter that is the same, or equivalent to a 7c, but shallower. What would that be?
