Using NotebookLM for Education: Creating Quizzes and Lesson Activities from a Single URL (Zero Hallucinations Workflow)
Hi everyone!
As an educator, one of the biggest challenges is always time. I wanted to share a specific workflow I’ve been using to turn any last-minute article or web news into a full lesson plan in less than two minutes using NotebookLM.
The community here often talks about research, but it is also an incredible tool for teachers who need to ground AI responses and avoid hallucinations completely.
Here is the quick breakdown of the workflow:
- Source Injection: Create a new notebook and add a "Website" link as the source (e.g., a recent news article relevant to the class topic).
- Quiz Generation: Go to the Notebook Guide/Studio and select the Quiz utility. I add a quick prompt to frame the questions around the core message of the text.
- The "Whiteboard" Summary: In the chat, I ask for a 3-point key summary to use as my personal cheat sheet on the whiteboard.
- Active Learning Output: Finally, I prompt the chat to design a quick group activity or debate dynamics based strictly on that source.
Since NotebookLM relies 100% on the provided link, there is zero risk of the AI making up facts, which is a game-changer for classroom safety.
I recorded a short 2-minute video walkthrough showing the exact UI clicks and prompt results.
Note: The video and my UI are in Spanish (aimed at helping Spanish-speaking teachers adopt AI), but the visual workflow is very straightforward if you want to check it out:
