SOMETHING WICKED cover art, in the style of SATURATE | and here's my honest opinion about the song ⬇️ 🤟🏽
At first, this song didn't convince me. It felt too much like EMBER, an album I only half-connected with and enjoyed. The album isn't bad at all, but after great works like DEAR AGONY and DARK BEFORE DAWN, it fell short.
And well, I thought maybe Ben was running out of good ideas. I say this because with other songs it was different. From the first listen, I was completely hooked, and that's how I got interested in the band. SATURATE is a tremendous debut album, especially with the opening track, "Wish I May" a heavy song that made me enjoy the album completely; it met my expectations. Similarly, when Ben returned in 2015 with "Failure" I was hooked by the song; it felt like a beautiful comeback.
Now, listening to "SOMETHING WICKED" this past week, I really do feel the vibe of SATURATE and WE ARE NOT ALONE. Maybe Ben wants to go back to his roots because the song really sounds like that style. I was probably expecting something heavy and beautiful like DA or DBD, and I forgot about SATURATE and WANA, with their rebellious and experimental style. SATURATE is the reason I fell in love with BB music.
And now I'm really enjoying it and I'm fascinated by the song. It reminds me why I got hooked on this band, and I can't stop listening to it. Amazing song!! 🤟🏽
I have high expectations for the album now. It seems like it will be a mix of all their albums, since "AWAKEN" sounds like a mix of DD and DBD.
