Amazon or DriveThruRPG?
All:
Has anyone here used Amazon to distribute their roleplaying game? If you have, please let me know your take and experience in doing so.
I am a month or two away from launching my rules system, System Vivo (with setting/genre books to follow thereafter). I am debating on using DriveThruRPG or Amazon for distribution. I have a small publishing LLC, so I will go one of these two routes.
I have used DriveThruRPG before for personal projects. I have been very satisfied with DrivThruRPG to date, which means I am leaning heavily towards working with them.
However, not everyone has a DriveThruRPG account, while everyone have an Amazon account. I know the need to sign up for a DTRPG account will be a drag on sales from people who do not already have an account. (Sad but true.) Thus using Amazon will decrease friction for potential customers. However, I have never used Amazon publishing/distribution services. I am also concerned about being stuck with the electronic version being tied to the Kindle platform.
All insights and opinions welcome!
