I was messing around on Google Maps the other night, clicking around the Arctic coast of Russia, and ended up in Tiksi.

It feels so remote from where I live that I can’t really imagine what normal everyday life is like there. What do people actually do on a normal weekday? What is school/work like? How often do people leave? Is there much of a social life? Do people like living there, or is it mostly just where their family/work happens to be?

I know it’s a very specific place, but is anyone here from Tiksi, has lived there, or knows someone from there? I’d honestly love to hear anything about it.
