Miss you all so much already! Banana cart’s energy and I were one and the same
First LIB and I gotta say thank you to all I interacted with for sharing and making this experience so special for me.
I got into EDM later in life, and was on the bluegrass end of these scenes when I was younger. I used to attend a festival at Horning’s Hideout in Oregon called Northwest String Summit. Since that festival has ceased, and I have dove more into EDM as well, I kept going to events looking for the same magic and metaphysical spirit only to be disappointed again and again (didn’t have a bad time, just not the same magic as I had under those Oregon pines).
You people, the beautiful souls that brought tremendous energy and the spirit of freedom, the DoLab, all of the artists large and small playing, the sheer variety of music you can find here (loved the grand Artique bluesy country band Thursday evening though I only caught one song. Her voice was so beautiful), the art everywhere and artists creating all around, all of that together made me feel the same way I did in those Oregon woods.
Sitting at camp my wife and I said to each other that it felt like we were rushed back in time to the times our parents told us about from their youth. Where technology hadn’t gotten so advanced that they could attend events like these or tour with the dead and experience a different kind of true freedom. Freedom that builds on creativity and takes the weight of the world away for just a few moments. Thank you all for bringing that and showing the kindness you did.
I found that magic again thanks to you. I was more social than I’ve been in years with no anxiety attached to it and it’s due to the openness and kindness of everyone I was around this weekend and the team that gave us the space to come together.
I know it wasn’t all rainbows and unicorns and exploding banana eyes for everyone, and I’m sorry that happened to your experience. I just wanted to say something, because I haven’t felt so good in my soul after an event in years. And to find it in the overall EDM scene finally fills every fiber of my being with joy. Love you all!
