Hi everyone,

I’ll be entering SMU Computer Science this year and am planning to take the AI track, since that was also my specialization in poly. I already have a desktop with a GPU at home, so I’m looking for a laptop that can comfortably get me through the rest of the course.

I’m currently leaning towards a MacBook because it seems to be the best bank for your buck. However, I’m concerned that there may be modules that require Windows-only software, which could become a huge hassle.

For those already studying CS at SMU (especially those in AI), could you share your experience? Has using a Mac been a disadvantage in any way, or is it generally manageable compared to using a Windows laptop?
