Chesspy: a single-player chess puzzle where your pieces' attacks are the clues
Not a two-player variant, more of a puzzle built on chess movement, but I think it fits here.
Numbered squares are targets. You place rooks, bishops and knights so each number is attacked by exactly that many of your pieces. A 0 must stay untouched. One twist from normal chess: rooks and bishops attack through other pieces, all the way to the edge, which makes a single piece cover a lot more than you'd expect.
Every board has one solution you can reach by pure logic. There's a daily set of 20 boards from 3x3 to 6x6, the same for everyone, and on Sundays it goes up to 7x7 with knights mixed in.

Curious what chess players think: does "attacks pass through pieces" feel wrong to you, or does it work for a puzzle? 1.1 just came out with friend battles (free to join) and hints that explain the next deduction. Honest feedback is welcome, and if you like it an App Store review helps a lot.
