Watch out for the curb by the 34th street helipad

Watch out for the curb by the 34th street helipad

Came across a coop patron who got their bike mangled running into the curb next to the bike path at the east 34th street helipad under the FDR. Surprisingly the fork was fine but the frame cracked and bent.

luckily the bike absorbed most of the impact and not the rider

cracked top tube and bent downtube. this would never generate enough force to straighten the frame but there was hope

this intersection is not ideal and could use better marking

DIY Repair Workshop at Principles GI on Monday 5/18

Time’s Up Bike Co-op is partnering with Principles GI Coffee House to host a WTFNB open bike repair workshop. We provide the tools and know-how to help you fix up your bike. No experience needed, just pull up with your bike.

If you can't make it this time, we’ll be there every third Monday of the month. Flyer by the amazing Tess Scilipoti

In case people are wondering how is this different than our usual bike repair workshops, this one has better coffee while our East Village workshop only serves tea. We'll have a booth at the Bike Jumble on Saturday so stop by if you have questions.
