What to do about mismatched flooring?
Hi there, I recently purchased an old Victorian home in New England and I'm having a hard time deciding what to do about the floors. The previous owners have laid down a patch work of different flooring throughout the life of the home. The original flooring is wide pine boards that are still around in a good portion of the house but it's been covered over or replaced in others.
I'm curious how others tackled a similar scenario. Should I rip everything up including the original boards and make it consistent? Replace just the portions of mismatched flooring with something that maybe resembles the original pine floors?
The original pine looks beautiful but I doubt I'd ever be able to get something that matches.
