Prediabetic at 28 even though I was told I was too young to worry about it
For years I thought I just had bad habits or low energy from stress. I would crash hard after meals, get shaky if I waited too long to eat and constantly feel exhausted no matter how much I slept. I kept blaming caffeine, burnout and my routine instead of thinking something metabolic might be going on. What confused me is that my basic glucose testing never looked alarming.
At some point I asked for a fasting insulin test after realizing standard glucose checks were not really explaining how I felt. I ordered the labs through Goodlabs and my fasting insulin came back way higher than I expected even though my A1C was still technically normal.A few months later I ended up landing in prediabetic range and looking back the signs had probably been there for years. It definitely changed the way I think about insulin resistance because I used to assume blood sugar problems only mattered once you were older or already diabetic.
Curious how many other people here had symptoms for years but got dismissed at first because they were too young.
